Educational Trip (Mysore/Bandipur/Srirangapatnam)
On December 20, 2011 165 children from Std. VII to IX assembled at the Chatrapati Shivaji airport to embark on a school trip to Mysore / Bandipur and Srirangapatnam. The trip was organized by Indian Odyssey.

On December 20, 2011 evening children were taken to the famous Brindavan Gardens where they saw well manicured gardens with exquisite lighting. They also had a peep of the laser show conducted in the garden which was indeed a tourist attraction.

On December 21st 2011 the HFS team visited the famous Lalita Mahal. This visit took everyone back to India when Monarchy was prevalent. The grandeur of the Kings and Queens was observed. A glimpse of the life lived by royalty made every Hiraite exclaim at the grandiose at display.

This visit surely made each of us marvel at the opulence, the talent of the painter Ravi Verma who beautifully depicted the life style of the Kings and Queens was also appreciated.

In the evening the HFS team visited Chamunda Devi Temple. The climb uphill to the temple was indeed very memorable.

December 22, 2012, Hiraites visited the Bandipur Sanctuary where the HFS Team saw at very close quarter a large number of deer in their natural habitat. Elephants meandering through the forests with all their might and their girth very gracefully and one group of children were very lucky to sport a tiger in action. They were truly the lucky chosen ones who could site the regal animal running after a deer in his own home. A sight most of us witness on the National Geographic Channel and only the extremely lucky manage to catch a glimpse on a visit to the Sanctuary.

December 23, 2011 truly happened to be a day where in the HFS team actually saw and learnt silk being weaved and exquisite sarees being made. They learnt that eight cocoons make a silk thread and 1800 threads make a saree and each saree is not less than ` 10,000/- and a lot of patience, effort and thinking goes into the making of a Mysore Silk Saree.

The next stop was Sandalwood factory.

December 24, 2011 the trip left for Mumbai after stopping enroute at Srirangapatnam and the ISCKON temple at Bangalore after a funfilled learning experience and a lot of rich exposure.
