English Elocution for Std V & VI

The Inter – House English Elocution Competition for Std V & VI was held on Monday,1st July, 2013 at 1pm. This competition was conducted in the new assembly hall on the fifth floor.

The 12 finalists each from Std. V & Std .VI, (3 students from each house) rendered their poems with lot of confidence, grace and panache. They were judged on the following points i.e. audibility, expressions, choice of poems and memory by Mrs. Runali D'souza and Mrs. Rishona Reuben.

The students rendered some inspiring poems on female infanticide, monsoon and a few humorous poems like ‘The Porcupine', ‘The Ant and Me', ‘The Case of Missing Cookies', which kept the audience thoroughly entertained. All the participants recited their poems very enthusiastically and put in their best effort.

The winners of Std V were Anoushka Dey, Aarna Dixit and Aneesha Pradhan. Anoushka beautifully expressed the idea of having a bookshelf in place of a television set through her poem titled ‘Television'. Whereas Aarna recited the poem ‘The Tummy Beast' with sheer confidence and Aneesha creatively and funnily expressed through her poem, the plight of the dentist who has a crocodile as his patient.

The winners of Std VI too were very expressive and aptly modulated their voice to suit the characters of their poem. Neeharika Narayanan recited the poem titled ‘The Little Red Riding Hood'. Tulip Bhatia recited ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Niharika Kudwa recited an interesting poem titled ‘Veruca Salt'.

The results were declared soon after the competition was over and certificates were awarded to the winners by the judges. The Sigma House emerged winners of this competition.
